Soy Happy
I have no idea where I got the idea that soy could solve all my problems

I bought all soy milk and had a soy latte the other day [my first latte in about 4months...but I saw the word SOY on the board when I went in to get a banana]

I started eating healthy and stopped going on walks
I bought a yoga dvd and started reading all the books on it

I dont know what part of my brain stops me from doing two things at once, but there has to be something going on up there...And I got sidetracked in my Idiots Guide to Yoga and started attempting the poses freestyle without an instructor or a video or even a youtube.com video to see how it should be done.  haha, I am such a self-amusing mess at this...

According to the BMI charts I am healthy, Im just trying to lose the pooch pouch from drinking.

5'7'' - 143lbs

Can anyone recommend any cheap diet pills? They also need to be small to swallow because I am currently taking Metabo Extreme & they are quite long & I cannot swallow them.. So instead I open the capsule up & empty the powder into a drink. The taste is foul & it is so disgusting..

So please, any recommendations? Preferably a small circular pill.

Thanks. ♥

I've been on a cleanse diet for the past 18 days. I've lost 11 pounds. I just started this new exercise regime yesterday. Yesterday morning I did 2 hours of solid nonstop cardio at the gym before work, then 500 crunches at the gym at lunchtime. Today I did arm weights and will do an hour of cardio after school (which is after work).

Any ideas or suggestions....
For a workout/diet routine that would help me look like this:

Went to the gym today at lunchtime after the bank.

15 minutes on treadmill is all I had time for:
2 minute- brisk walk warm up
3 minute- run at 5.0 (12 min mile)
2 minute: brisk walk
1 minute: sprint at 7.0
2 minute: brisk walk
3 minute: run at 5.0
2 minute: brisk walk

This is a 3rd of my usual daily cardio routine when I'm training. While training last year it was:
2 minute- brisk walk warm up
43 minute- run at 6.0

With music, I could run my 10 minute mile and have no problem. Now, I could probably run a mile without stopping but it sure as hell is not going to be in 10 minutes. I would venture to say, I could run it in 15 minutes now. Which is not too bad considering how lazy I've been for the past few months.

Softball signups are coming up again. I need to make a decision to rack up some college units over the summer with classes, or do softball again.

I was in the best shape I've ever been in 6 months ago. I had trained for and run the Wharf to Wharf race (10k) in Santa Cruz in July and was on my company softball team. I was running a couple miles a day 3 times a week and eating very healthily. Since August, I've probably gone to the gym 10 times, I eat crap all the time, I've gotten so out of shape, gained 10 pounds, lost a lot of the muscle I'd gained, feel lethargic all the time, and am getting more and more depressed about it. I have work and school and I try to go to the gym at lunchtime, but I'm so busy at work I don't usually have time to even take a 15 minute lunch. I have 3 days a week where I could go before work but I'm so tired all the time. I'm forcing myself to go to the gym today and try running again tomorrow morning. I can still run a consecutive 10 minutes without stopping but I have no motivation anymore. : (

If you guys don't know how awesome cottage cheese is, let me tell you. A half-cup serving has 15 grams of good (vegetarian!) animal protein, only 5 grams of protein--a lot less than milk or yogurt, and only 5 grams of fat--a lot less than cheese or eggs (or 0 if you get the fat-free kind.) On top of that, it's really cheap: 3 lb tubs (12 servings!) are on sale at my local grocery store for $4.50. The only downside is that cottage cheese is flat-out wierd, but you get used to it.

As far as fruit goes, bananas are always cheap and grapefruits are cheap this time of year--I got an 18 lb bag for $6 (33cents a lb!). They're delicious, and only 20 net carbs and 12(!!) grams of fiber in one grapefruit.

It's hard for vegetarians to get a good balance, especially on a small budget. Are there any other good cheap healthy things I'm missing out on?

Might be important for vegetarians..
I found out that new research into soy protein shows that it's much less complete than animal protein such as meat, eggs, dairy, etc.

If most of your protein comes from soy, and you feel tired all the time and still feel hungry after you eat it's because you're missing the complete protein in animal products.

I was practically vegan for a few months, and I was tired all the time and always hungry; since I've started eating eggs and dairy again I've noticed a huge difference.

I figured it might help anyone going through the same stuff I was.

Hi I just joined this community. I've recently found out that I'll have the opportunity to go to New York for a modeling competition this coming February, and naturally I want to be in the best possible health I can be in.

My diet consists of soy protein and fresh fruit and vegetables, following the zone ratio of protein to carbohydrates with minimal fat(probably about 5-10 grams a day) - about 1200 calories a day. I also drink 5-10 cups of green tea with ginseng daily.

I weigh 185 lbs. and would love to get down to 170-175, but I have a pretty muscular build.

I was wondering if anyone out there is really educated on healthy eating and living, and can give me any more tips on the matter.

Also, what sort of exercise routine should I have? I want to avoid weightlifting (I don't want to bulk up any more). But for things like running and swimming, how often should I do them and for how long?

Any questions or comments are welcome!

hello im rachel, im new :) new friends?? yes please.

right nowm, well yesterday i weighed 11stone11pounds. (170 pounds approx, i think) and i thats the most i ever weighed. so a change was and is in order.

so today was my first day of losing weight. and i have to say, at first it was hard, but i did it.

im having one meal a day - decided today it will be my dinner, because i knew we were going to pizza hut for my brothers birthday. its not healthy but hey. im not really heathy anyway.

the morning at college was hard, and at lunch i thought i would have died, but i stayed in the class over the breaks so i wouldnt be tempted. during the day i had 3 polomints and 2 bottles of diet coke.
and tonight i had my pizza hut. and diet pepsi. i also had 2 small chicken wings from my mums starter.

tomorrow im going to have lunch. and on wednesday i'll have a meal whenever i wake up (its my day off college) and then i'll go for a walk to help burn some of it off.

i go over to ireland again on the 26th i think - to go clubbing with celine and elle. :) oh its going to be maaaaad. i need to be thinner before then. i need to. they are both so gorgeous and i would feel like such a dick if i was out dancing with all my fat going everywhere.

on the train home from college i was past feeling hungary, or maybe i wasnt, maybe i was just used to it but whatever, i didnt even feel like i needed to have pizza hut, but i knew i should or my mum will be like whatttt?

i need to ask her to start buying diet coke.
i got diet pills today, called "diet aid" it was the cheapest okish looking ones they had. im so skint. i got caffeine pills too, so i still have energy since im not going to be eating that much anymore.

im going to do 100 sit-ups before bed too.
im quite pleased with today. i didnt know if i could have done it. but i did. and i feel quite proud.

love rachel. xx

also posted in my journal, well most of it.

Hi, this is my "new" journal which i have designated for dieting.

All my entries for now are public... so add me if you like. I am going to start taking this dieting very seriously, because I have 20 pounds I can definitely afford to drop without looking like a waif... which wouldnt be bad, but 20 pounds is my goal for now- and I'd be perfectly happy with that.

I am going to post pics later so you all can compare, but for now I will give my stats.

highest weight=135
goal weight=110

Intro post
Hi everyone, I'm Suzanne, 28 years old and have been exercising and somewhat dieting since the beginning of April- I've lost 4 pounds so far- doesn't seem like much- but I feel better already.
Height: 5'4"
Current Weight: 131 lbs.
Highest Weight: 135 lbs.
Goal Weight: I'd like to get to 120

In 2001, I was diagnosed with a GI problem and put on a bland diet (that was also loaded with carbs).
I was also put on prednisone (which puffs you up). I was 105 lbs when I got sick (and had never been larger than that).
In about 6 months- I was up to 135 lbs and have been there until now.
In March (of this year), after having a regular blood test, my doctor told me that I had high cholesterol (I think it was 225) and that I should try to lose some weight.
I had been feeling very unhealthy and out of shape- but I guess that was the push I needed.
Since the beginning of April, I watch what I eat, try to avoid foods that are high in cholesterol (which means I also now avoid sweets and cakes), I have been using my stepper at least 20 minutes a day, my ab lounge at least 20 minutes a day and using my 5 lb. weights to do arm exercises every day.
Right now, it feels good, it may not be much, but I'm very faithful to it and I already can fit into pants that were too tight about a month ago.
I don't have much to lose, but I want to be healthier and eventually increase my exercise routine...also, my main goal- to try to get my cholesterol down.
